613) & The Nobel goes to ........ !!

Obama wins Noble Prize for his "peace intentions"!
Then why not "Mubarak" as he had peace intentions since Obama was in elementary school..
Since we were kids, we were always hearing and reading that Mubarak was pushing the peace process (3amaleyet el salam, wel ra2s wel ensigam). Ma3lesh ya rayes, el baraka fe Jimmy ;)

Picture Caption: Mubarak is disappointed: "ba2a 2ana azo2 fel 3amaleya 30 sana, wenta teegi takolha wal3a, akhhh!"

P.S Seriously: I think they should have granted it to Obama in 2010 to give him time to implement.

having intentions and having the means and intentions are 2 different things.

i am intent on ridding my city of poverty, crime and squalor, does not mean much if i don't have the 'means' of backing it up!

what did he do to win such prize, only speeches here and there about peace and bla bla bla, empty talk but no action.

-did he stop the Israelis from building settlement?

-did he withdraw his army from Iraq or Afghanistan?

-did he close Guantanamo?

here are the guidelines set forth by the nobel organization.

"shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding of peace congresses." The prize was to be awarded "by a committee of five persons to be elected by the Norwegian Storting."

one can argue that obama has fulfilled the set criteria of winning the prize.

but then again so has hosni and many other people....go figure!

Many people were surprised about the award and consider it toosoon and premature with out any tangible results of the efforts cited. The earlier awards were shared by such persons like NelsonMandela,Martin Lutherking jr,Mother Teress, who had behind them life long tangible work and added prestege to the award itself.Mr Obama, has no doubt became a legend,by becoming the first nonwhite president of America. He had agreat vision and great expectations, and great cofidence that 'we can' achieve the aspirations. But there is a feeling that, the award could havewaited for the aspirations to fructify.

'1978 - Anwar al-Sadat, Menachem Begin'

what is your point? he did win the prize...

if anything clinton has done so much since '92 and has received nothing!

Mohaly said...

Shouki: I am mocking, neither mubarak nor obama should win in as no tangible results.

and yes if for the efforts, Clinton has tried hard, but no results as well.

I think the prize went after counting a lot of issues not only 'Peace Process' because "Middle East" is just a one portion of many other problems caused by the USA during the past decade(s)

Anyway I am neutral as you know might noticed Mohaly so I am concerned whether this will reflect on the ground or the story will be another novel that we read?!

p.s. I personally think like H.A.W. that President Sadat (Allah Yerhamo) was among the few people list who deserved it.
