859) To Pee or not to Pee ... !!

I think that William Shakespeare would have written it this way if he had a simple walk in the streets of Cairo, and had witnessed himself the view, smell, and feeling of "Pee" allover the walls, sidewalks, bushes, alleys, ...etc.

The scene of people peeing in the streets is becoming quite normal, something I almost see every other day. The last time I did was yesterday when a Taxi driver pulled over beside a 5 starts hotel and went to the other side of the car, opened the door, unzipped his pants, and simply peed between the passenger door and the car !

Although it seems disgusting, but insisting always to put myself in others shoes instead of framing or judging makes me think that most of the time people do that because there are no practical alternatives (
a decent or even functioning public toilet) specially if they are using public transportation or just walking. It gets even worse if you are a female.

I tried it myself, and walked for 2.5 kilometers thinking about something I wanna do work, and I had all that walk without finding one single public toilet, and wondered, what if I really cant hold it anymore during that walk, what should I have done?! So instead of thinking strategically about "being" or not "being", I turned out to be thinking about "peeing" or not "peeing".

855) Egyptians ::: The Dilemma of Co-Existence!

With all what happened and is still happening in Egypt during the past 30 months, I have almost reached a conviction that co-existence became something next to Impossible specially between Civil / Liberal and Theological streams.

I have written a long article about it, and was about to publish today, but after seeing all that blood shed, I just deleted the article. I still see that Ekhwan and Islamists were and are a major catalyst in splitting Egypt this way, and I have reached the following conclusion:

Co-Existence--: An imaginary word that is used by politicians in 3rd world countries regarding different ideologies living together and accepting each other, but doesn't have any meaning in reality.

Is there is still a chance to co-exist?!

755) NOT Being Egyptian 2.0 ::: Apology to Lara Logan !

Although I was planning to start this series with having personal mission that goes along with the country, but this new and ugly incident is obliging me to talk about it now as it is in the core of what I am campaigning for..

Top CBS foreign correspondent Lara Logan suffered a "brutal" sexual assault at the hands of a mob in Egypt while covering the downfall of president Hosni Mubarak, her US network says.

"She and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into a frenzy," CBS said in a statement on Tuesday.

"In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew.

The incident took place on Cairo's central Tahrir Square last Friday, the day Mubarak stepped down, CBS said.

Being Egyptian now means that we HAVE to keep the wonderful and civilized image we had during the revolution.. Not having a single of harassment during the whole revolution was a message to the whole world, and would in-turn build trust and will help tourism to boom and inturn the national income... but such acts will ruin all what we are doing, and will take us many steps back.... This is far from Being Egyptian 2.0, and this is not the 25 January guys.


What should we do:
1. Sign and spread the apology for Logan http://www.change.org/petitions/walk-free-stop-sexual-harassment-in-egypt-apology-to-lara-logan
2. Dont allow ANYone to do harassment ANY girl even if you don't know her. Do what ever you can according to the circumstances whether in the streets, buses,..etc. This by time will fade this ugly and sick practice away in-shaa Allah and will help us move on to Egyptian 2.0

Sorry for dedicating this post for this issue, but it is urgent and very important.

LARA LOGAN ...  please accept our sincere apology, and you are welcomed at anytime in Egypt.

721) Arabs Money .... Down the Drain !!

Arabs should be entitled for the World Records in consumption, with distinction regarding how silly the fields of consumption are. I will just be mentioning selected numbers from the non-periodical reports of Arab World Consumptions, and briefly commenting..although sometimes I feel that there is no comment, but I will leave that to you to decide...

Outcome of monthly cellular SMS messages that appear on the bar at the bottom of the screen of Arab satellite channels in the downlink convergence (8) million dollars! 

The cost of producing video clips of Arab songs is (16) billion dollars per year! 

Total annual income of domestic servants is Arab (35) billion dollars ! or approximately (3) billion dollars a month!! 

Total spending by the Arab Women on beauty products in a single year is (2) billion dollars (1.5 billion share of Gulf women!

Total spending by all the Arab countries on scientific research is (1.7) billion dollars annually, representing (0.3%) only of the gross national product. 

For comparison: in France, 2.7%, Sweden 2.9%, Japan 3% (ie, 10 times as much Arab countries combined), In Israel, 4.7% according to figures from UNESCO for the year 2004)!

The number of illiterates in the Arab world is more than the (100) million,  this means that one of every 3 Arabs can not read or write!!!  And for those who spend their money on books: The average number of books read by an American per year (11) books, and European (7) Books, The Arab in a single year does not exceed a quarter page 

!!!!!!!

P.S. Thank God that the report did not mention how much do Arabs spend on prostitutes and sex escorts.

709) Fawazeer Ramadan - Kahraba !

Why do we have irregular electricity cut-off in Ramadan? and if it is necessary, why dont they schedule it instead of the daily loss of equipment and data?

Just a small paragraph about the only case when they cut off electricity in UK because the user didn't pay the bill, read and respect...

Cut-Off Process Information

The basic process is that if you don’t pay a bill, the electricity supplier will give you 28 days between sending a bill and sending a notice to disconnect you. They must then wait at least seven days before coming in to perform the cut-off. That basically gives you only five weeks between receiving a bill and being cut off.

In reality these dates are minimum figures and it's very rare that anyone would be cut off in that short a period of time. After all, the energy companies would rather have money coming in from a customer than a cut-off customer who then pays nothing.

700) Tribute to Justice & its martyrs; Khaled Saeed & others!

Every 100th post I dedicated it to someone who has/had/will have an impact on my life. This time I am dedicating it to some people whom I never met, but moved a lot of feelings and thoughts inside me, they made me act more, and fear less, on top of which of course Khaled Saeed and all those who lost their lives and will lose with without a reason except that they don't wanna lose their rights ...

The best thing I can publish here in this tribute is the beautiful short  story written by Dr. Alaa El Aswany regarding this issue ....

I hope that you will enjoy it, and I hope that the blood they sacrificed will be a incentive pushing us to only accept justice and nothing but justice till we join them in Jannah in-shaa-Allah..

بعد أن أغلق خالد باب الشقة ونزل عدة درجات على السلم، توقف فجأة وكأنه تذكر شيئا ثم صعد مرة أخرى وفتح الباب ودخل.

كانت أمه جالسة فى الصالة تشاهد التليفزيون، سألها خالد إن كانت تحتاج إلى شيء يحضره معه عندما يرجع بالليل، ابتسمت
وقالت إنها لا تحتاج إلى شيء والحمد لله. تطلع إليها خالد. اقترب منها وقبل جبينها فاحتضنته وهى تدعو له بحرارة.

فكر وهو يخرج إلى الشارع أن الله قد أنعم عليه بأم رائعة وأنه يجب أن يفعل كل ما يستطيع لإسعادها.

عزم خالد على أن يمر على مقهى الإنترنت ليقابل بعض أصدقائه ثم يذهب بعد ذلك إلى محطة الرمل ليشترى بعض اللوازم لجهاز اللاب توب الخاص به.. بدا كل شيء عاديا فى الشارع، الزحام والضجيج وأصوات السيارات وصياح الباعة.

دفع خالد بيده باب المقهى ودخل لكنه ما إن قطع بضع خطوات حتى أحس بحركة خلفه.

التفت فوجد شخصين يتوجهان نحوه وهما ينظران إليه بغضب. توقف ليسألهما ماذا يريدان لكنهما، بلا كلمة واحدة، انقضا عليه. أمسك أحدهما به من القميص وبدأ الآخر يضربه بيديه وقدميه بكل قوته. صاح خالد معترضا لكن الرجل الممسك بقميصه راح يضرب رأسه بقوة فى حافة المائدة الرخامية.

حاول الزبائن الموجودون فى المقهى إنقاذ خالد لكن أحد الرجلين صاح:
ــ احنا بوليس..

عندئذ خاف الناس وابتعدوا. تدفق دم خالد بغزارة ولطخ ثيابه وبدأ يسيل على الأرض. استمر الرجل يضرب رأسه فى المائدة فأحس خالد بألم رهيب وصرخ:

ــ كفاية.. حرام عليكم..

قام الرجلان بسحله على الأرض وهما يكيلان له الضربات ثم دخلا به باب العمارة المجاورة وراحا يخبطان رأسه فى البوابة الحديدية للعمارة بكل قوة.

هنا صاح خالد:

ـ كفاية. أنا هاموت..

فصاح أحد الرجلين بصوت أجش:

ـ أنت ميت ميت يابن الكلب.

ظل خالد يصرخ لكن الرجلين استمرا فى مهمتهما: واحد يضرب بيديه وقدميه والآخر يخبط رأس خالد بكل قوته فى البوابة الحديدية.

صارت آلام خالد فوق الاحتمال وفجأة حدث شيء غريب. تلاشى الألم تماما.

أحس خالد براحة مدهشة كأنما كان ينوء بحمل ثقيل ثم تخلص منه فجأة فأصبح خفيفا وحرا.

اختفى المشهد من أمام نظره وساد ظلام حالك. لم يعد خالد يرى شيئا، أحس كأنه نائم ثم فجأة بزغ نور قوى ووجد خالد نفسه فى مكان كأنه حديقة جميلة.

أحس خالد بدهشة بالغة ثم نظر إلى جسده وتحسس وجهه فلم يجد أى أثر للدماء والجروح.

ظهر أمامه رجل عجوز تبدو عليه علامات الطيبة وابتسم وقال:

ـــ أهلا وسهلا يا خالد..

هز خالد رأسه وهو مازال مأخوذا. قال العجوز بود:

ـــ لقد صعدت إلينا هنا لأنك فقدت حياتك من الظلم. من الآن فصاعدا لن يعكر صفوك شيء أو مخلوق..
ــ أشكرك..

هكذا قال خالد وهو يلتفت حوله. كانت الحديقة مليئة بأشجار وزهور بديعة لم ير مثلها فى حياته. ابتسم العجوز وقال:

ــ ستعيش هنا مع أفضل مخلوقات الله فى راحة تامة وبهجة خالصة. بعيدا عن العالم الظالم الذي جئت منه. الناس هنا سعيدون جدا بمجيئك وقد أرسلوا إليك وفدا ليستقبلك. انظر..

نظر خالد خلفه فوجد ثلاثة أشخاص: وجد رجل فى الخمسين من عمره يرتدى الملابس العسكرية وطفلا فى العاشرة وامرأة محجبة فى نحو الثلاثين من عمرها.. كانوا الثلاثة يضحكون وقد ظهرت عليهم السعادة. قال العجوز:

ــ أقدم إليك الفريق عبد المنعم رياض والطفل الفلسطيني محمد الدرة وهذه الدكتورة مروة الشربينى..

صافحهم خالد بمحبة واحترام وأراد أن يتحدث معهم قليلا لكن العجوز سحبه من يده قائلا:

ــ سيكون لديك وقت طويل للكلام معهم. أريد الآن أن أريك المكان الذي ستعيش فيه إلى الأبد..

ــ انه مكان رائع لم أر مثله من قبل.

ـــ هل تريد شيئا يا خالد..؟. كل طلباتك مجابة..

ـــ أريد أن أطمئن على أمي..

ابتسم العجوز وأخرج من جيبه بللورة براقة ومستديرة تماما، فى حجم البرتقالة وناولها إلى خالد وقال:

ــ إذا أردت أن ترى أى شخص من العالم الذي جئت منه. يكفى أن تفكر فيه وسوف تراه بوضوح فى البللورة..

أمسك خالد بالبللورة وفكر فى المخبرين اللذين ضرباه حتى الموت فظهرا فورا على سطح البللورة.. كانا يجلسان فى مكان يشبه غرفة المباحث فى القسم وأمامهما طعام يأكلان منه بشهية ويتبادلان الحديث والضحكات مع العسكري الواقف بجوارهما.

ثم فكر خالد فى ضابط الشرطة الذي أعطى الأمر للمخبرين بقتله فظهر فورا. يبدو أنه كان فى يوم الراحة لأنه كان يرتدى تريننج سوت فى غاية الأناقة وقد تمدد على أريكة وراح يتابع مباراة كرة القدم فى التليفزيون.

ثم فكر فى الصحفي الذي اتهمه ظلما بإدمان المخدرات فظهر على البللورة فى وضع مخجل جعل خالد يصرف نظره بسرعة ثم قال للعجوز:

ــ لا أفهم كيف يستطيع الذين ظلموني أن يستمتعوا بحياتهم..

ابتسم العجوز وقال:

ــ كل هذا باطل. لن يهنأ الظالمون بحياتهم أبدا.. لقد كتب الله عليهم المعيشة الضنك حتى تحين ساعة الحساب.

فكر خالد فى أمه فظهرت وقد جلست على فراشه فى حجرته. راحت تقرأ القرآن وتبكى. أحس خالد بالحزن من أجلها فقال للعجوز:

ــ من فضلك. هل يمكن أن تخبر أمي أنني بخير.؟!.

ــ لا أستطيع.

ــ قلت لي إن طلباتي مجابة..

ــ إلا الاتصال بالعالم الذي جئت منه. ممنوع. عموما اطمئن يا خالد. أمك سيدة صالحة ومؤمنة وسوف تصعد إلينا يوما. عندئذ ستسعد بصحبتها إلى الأبد.

ساد الصمت بينهما لكن العجوز بدا عليه الغضب فجأة وقال:

ــ ماذا يحدث فى مصر يا خالد.؟!. أنا حزين من أجل المصريين. لماذا..؟

ــ فى الماضي، كان معظم المصريين الذين يصعدون إلينا من العسكريين.. جنودا وضباطا قتلهم أعداء مصر وهم يدافعون عنها. الآن ومنذ سنوات يصعد إلينا كل يوم مصريون قتلهم مصريون مثلهم..

هز خالد رأسه وقال بأسف:

ــ حياة المصري لم تعد تساوى شيئا..

قال العجوز:

ــ تصور يا خالد إننا أنشأنا قسما خاصا للمصريين. إن عدد الذين يصعدون إلينا من مصر أكثر من الذين يصعدون من أي بلد آخر. تعال معي..

تبعه خالد وسط الأشجار والورد حتى وصلا إلى ساحة كبرى احتشد فيها آلاف الناس ملامحهم جميعا مصرية. كانوا يبتسمون فى بهجة.

أشار إليهم العجوز وقال:

ــ هؤلاء جميعا مصريون قتلهم ظلما مصريون مثلهم.. هنا ستجد الذين ماتوا غرقا فى عبارات الموت والذين احترقوا فى القطارات والذين أصابهم السرطان من الأغذية الفاسدة والذين ماتوا من الإهمال فى مستشفيات الحكومة بالإضافة طبعا إلى الذين ماتوا من الضرب والتعذيب مثلك..

ــ شيء مؤسف..

ــ أنا لا أتخيل كيف يتحمل إنسان ذنب هؤلاء جميعا أمام الله.

ــ وهل المسئول عن موت هؤلاء جميعا.. شخص واحد.

ــ طبعا.. انظر..

نظر خالد إلى البللورة فرأى وجها مألوفا لديه. سأله العجوز:

ــ هل عرفت الشخص الذي أقصده..

ــ نعم..

ــ هذا الرجل لديه فرصة أخيرة..

ــ فرصة أخيرة..؟

ــ لقد أمد الله فى عمره ليمنحه فرصة أخيرة حتى يقيم العدل ويرفع الظلم. أتمنى أن ينتبه ويسعى إلى الإصلاح وإلا فإن موقفه سيكون صعبا للغاية.

ـــ فعلا.. عندما يصعد إلى هنا كيف سيقابل كل هؤلاء الضحايا وماذا سيقول لهم..؟

ــ إذا استمر الظلم فإن هذا الرجل لن يصعد إلى هنا أبدا.. سوف يذهب إلى الضفة الأخرى..

وماذا يوجد فى الضفة الأخرى..؟!

نظر العجوز إلى خالد ولاذ بالصمت.

699) The Chronic Traffic Challenge !

Have you ever though how much does the traffic jams and problems in cairo cost us every year?

2.3 Billion Pounds (2,300,000,000 LE). Imagine!

This means that we lose an average of 4,400 LE every MINUTE of the day all over the year. Imagine if this amount is used to fund Education or Health or even helping the poor people! The weird thing is that this problem has been there for more than 40 years now and guess what it is getting WORSE!

Same traffic jams, same blocked spots, same stupidity in handling it (e.g. having a 4 lane bridge ending in a 2 lane street!!!!, and having a 3 meters wide pavement on each side for the Tram in a 10 meters wide street!)...

I stopped going out in cairo except around home or AUC, other than that. I rather stay home and get bored. (the other option will be heart attack in the street, those who have driven their cars last Monday will know what i mean).

I think Carpooling is something that we have to adopt right now, we cant wait longer for the government as it seems that they aren't serious enough about fixing this chronic problem! Any other suggestions dear readers?

feeling useless but not yet helpless

تلقى المستشار ياسر رفاعي، المحامي العام الأول لنيابات استئناف الإسكندرية، التقرير النهائي من مصلحة الطب الشرعي، بشأن وفاة الشاب خالد محمد سعيد،والذي تم إعادة تشريح جثته بمعرفة اللجنة الثلاثية برئاسة كبير الأطباء الشرعيين، الدكتور السباعي أحمد السباعي، والتي أمر بتشكيلها المستشار عبد المجيد محمود، النائب العام.

وورد في التقرير أن الوفاة نتيجة "إسفكسيا" الاختناق، نتيجة إنسداد المسالك الهوائية بجسم غريب، ثبت من تحليل هذا الجسم أنه عبارة عن لفافة بلاستيكية تحوي مادة خضراء اللون ثبت أنها لنبات (البانجو).

وتبين وجود إصابات بأنحاء جسد المتوفي نتيجة الاصطدام بأجسام صلبة، ولا يمنع اتفاق حدوثها مع ما جاء في تقرير الطب الشرعي السابق، والتي أكد فيها أنها نتيجة لمحاولة السيطرة على الشاب أثناء القبض عليه،  لكن الاصابات في مجملها بسيطة ولا يمكن أن تؤدي إلى الوفاة.

وثبت بتحليل الأحشاء وجود آثار لمادة "الترامادول"المخدرة، وأن الصورة التي التقطت وقدمت إلى النيابة، والخياطة الموجودة بها، كانت بعد إجراء عملية التشريح.

696) Eswed Ah... 3asal La2 !!

Khaled dies, Sherif hangs himself, whatever happens will pass...
PATHETIC is the slogan of this era, everything is pathic from "El Magary" to Education.
But the most patheric of all is that everyone I meet lately is trying to find a way to get another nationality American, European, or even Asian!

I used to blame people for that, but I can't anymore. I see that having another nationality now is like having a gun to defend yourself, it is a self-defense weapon, and the one who can afford, should not hestitate to buy it.
I recommend you to see 3asal Eswed for Ahmed Helmy, it is really released on time, and it tells you how far have we reached in being 10th class citizen's in our country..

I am still talking bardo, but since I don't know what else I can do and make a difference, at least I am documenting this talking on this blog, may be someone will enlighten us and tells us how can we escape our black destination other than having another nationality?!

El 3asal has gone khalas, all what we are left with is "Eswed". However,We shouldn’t hate Egypt. Egypt is us. I personally consider them occupying our land as the British used many decades ago. One day Egypt will get its independence… how i really don’t know, but this is OUR COUNTRY not theirs. Don’t lose faith that one day we will take it back and celebrate our real INDEPENDENCE DAY.


Sorry but that is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the painful truth.

695) Ra7emtak Ya Rab - RIP Khaled Sa3eed !

Till when will some of the police officers treat us like animals, actually like insects?! Does the word human mean anything to them? It is not "7awadeth Fardeya" anymore. Beating us is a trend and for no real reason. What the hell did we do to them? We are eating shit and trying to be as patient as "Ayoub".... Eihhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fen el ra7ma, mesh keda, mesh keda, walahi 7aram..... La Ilah ila Allah, 7asbya Allah feekom.

 خالد محمد سعيد صبحى(28 عاما) مات وسط زهول الجميع ,وصمت الجميع!!

خالد لم يكن إرهابيا مطاردا تطلبه الشرطة -حيا او ميتا - ولم يكن يمثل خطرا على أى شئ فى الحياة ,التى فارقها دون ذنب ,أو جريمة .

..كعادته ذهب خالد "الى نت كافيه" بشارع بوباست , بمنطقة كليوباترا , التابعة لقسم شرطة سيدى جابر!! واثناء جلوس خالد فى "النت كافيه" لاحظ دخول مخبرين يفتشون رواد الكافيه بغلظة لم يقبلها خالد مبديا امتعاضه فقط ..

.. وقبل ان يبدى خالد اعتراضه على الإجراء التعسفى ,سحبه المخبر محمود الفلاح من ملابسه وصفعه على وجهه,لم يكذب عوض المخبر الأخر زميله الفلاح و انهال على خالد بالصفعات ,واللكمات,حتى سقط الشاب خالد على ارض النت كافيه وسط ذهول الجميع من رواد الكافيه و اصحابه

..فجأه أمسك أحد المخبرين برأس خالد ,وظل يرطمها فى رخامة بالمقهى ,حتى فقد خالد الوعى ,وسالت الدماء من فمه و وجهه ,بينما اصحاب المقهى يتوسلون للمخبرين بالتوقف عن ضربه , فسحبه أحدهم مرة أخرى الى مدخل عقار مجاور للمقهى و أنهالوا عليه ركلا وضربا ورطما لجسده بمدخل العقار وبوابته الحديدية 

..خالد كان يلفظ أنفاسه الاخيرة ,بينما الجناة يحملون جسده النحيل و يلقون به داخل سيارة الشرطة ,التى انطلقت به بعيدا عن عيون الناس والشهود وعادت بعد مده بسيطة لتلقى بالجثة فى قارعة الطريق!!

..مات خالد .. دون ان يعرف جريمته,دون أن يفهم احد لماذا قتلوه!!

I really don't know what is the right thing to do in order to save humanity from those Sadistic people who enjoy killing of the innocent then claim that they were attacking them in the international waters!!!

Israel rulers know that they will do whatever they want and no one will stop them. Isn't that disappointing!

It seems that everything is forced on us starting from our political regime down to the daily chit chatting of the talk shows..

686) Egyptian Humiliation; Feeling Like Home !

I don't think what has happened/is happening to the Egyptians in the last couple of years is a coincidence...


In Khartoum: We was beaten by the Algerians in the streets.
In Darfour: Our peacekeepers were killed.
In Sinai: Our Guards are shot on monthly basis now.
In Saudi Arabia: Our citizens are humiliated.
In Kuwait: We were kicked off the country.
In UAE: We were laid off.
In Algeria: We were poisoned, and our investments are threatened.
In Lebanon: An Egyptian was ... I can even describe what happened.
In Iraq: Our Ambassador was killed.
In Quds: Our Foreign Minister was beaten by shoes.
In Germany: We were killed (Marwa El Sherbini).
In Italy & USA: We were busted and thrown into jails.
In Nile Valley: We were rejected.
In the Mid. and Red Seas: We simply drowned.
In Egypt: We are beaten, rapped, humiliated, killed (on physical and psychological levels),...etc.


It seems that other people want to make us feel home ...


The weird thing that I feel guilty not ashamed... May be because I dont know what to do to stop this snowball of humiliation. It is really hard when you love the country and hate it at the same time.


This country needs a complete revolution and a very soon one as well.

640) .. and the Misery goes on!

I simply can't understand how can a man in the 21st century deal with his wife through beating her up!

78% of husbands -in Egypt- have beaten their wives either physically or emotionally. The irony is that 65% only of these wives have admitted it !!.....13% were even afraid to admit it!

It is even a chronic crime ... when the children watch this as a normal scene, it becomes part of the their conception about marriage, ... and the misery goes on!

I can't blame the man only, I have to blame the families that apply double standards in raising their boys and girls..... to the extent that some men think of women as a piece of furniture at home, and women accept it coz of "del ragel wala del 7eta".

But it is not about blaming only. The question is: how to prevent this from being passed on to the next generation?
