630) Masr lel Masryeen!

I just can't get rid of the taste of bitterness that is overwhelming me. I feel that my country is being rapped and I can't do anything. It is not about Algeria, it is about everything. When I see the reaction of the world, I feel that we are now positioned as a bug that everyone is either happy, or in best case doesn't bother about it.

We are hitting bottom big time... There must be a way up. Khalas, it is about time to admit that we are nothing and we have to work on being something again, not impossible, not late, IF & ONLY IF we are serious about it.. or else let's contine whinnying and talking to each other, and "nakhod 3ala 2afana" today from Algeria, and tomorrow from the rest of the world.

It is about time to focus on us and our country, bala 3arab, bala israel, ... It is about us Masr & Masrians (I am not using Egypt as the name of our country, it is Masr, not even Misr, that is how we Masreen say it, Masr).

Mohaly
Angry, Sad, and Disappointed, but didn't lose hope.

The good thing about being down that there is no other way but up.

We are part of the change, we were destined to live in a turn of a century. So, either we will be the generation to pull Egypt through or the generation who wrote Egypt off history.

I don't think it's fair to say that the world has turned it's back on Egypt.. But I do think it's justifiable for you to feel that way given the situation, and the truth is.. Many people from many other countries far worse off than you are can say the exact same regarding their situation. The fact is, whatever happens in situations like the current one is just not broadcast everywhere else in the world as it is in country going through it, nor is the true people's reaction outside broadcast back. It's how the media works..

However, as a non-egyptian, a person very far away from all that is going on. I find the whole thing horrifying and incredibly sad. It makes me wonder what is wrong in the world for things to reach this point over nothing. And the truth is, it's not even nothing.. Nothing doesn't create all this madness unless something has been brewing for a very long time.. I wonder why all the hate? What is the world coming to? And what is the end goal of all that is happening? If I as one person who isn't related feels that way then surely there are plenty who feel the same.

I've just started to follow your blog.. And I've really liked your writing.. I'm not sure if that helps at all (it's probably very bad timing, haha) but it's only fair for me to voice that now.

As a fair blog and intellectual egyptian mohaly we want to have this as part of the rational thinking campaign

Hi Mohaly
I received the following link today ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ7hEpmVptQ&feature=player_embedded

In Switzerland, Egypt is being treated as any other country participating in the games. On a social / political level, Egypt is among the Middle East countries with which Switzerland has economic ties.

I don't know what the current situation in Egypt looks like, but I believe it is up to the people to stand up and take affairs in their own hands. As Shimaa mentioned ... the only way now is up!

Mohaly said...

Thanks Noblese, I just added it to the post.

Yes, no place for stopping, we have to go up, this bitterness should be a driving force to work better and prove that we deserve to be respected.

Olympia, welcome to the blog. Actually it is the perfect timing to say it, may be it can be one of the minor channels to keep people knowing how do Masrians (egyptians) think.

hassan, fe3lan, where is it?!

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has accepted an Arab League request to calm tension between Egypt and Algeria sparked by their soccer World Cup play-off matches, Libyan state media reported on Tuesday.

Egypt and Algeria have each accused the other of failing to protect their citizens and property from attacks by rival football fans. Cairo withdrew its ambassador to Algiers last week and Algeria has demanded an explanation from Cairo.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa called Gaddafi on Monday and asked him to intervene in his role as chairman of the African Union and drawing on "the high, distinguished position that the leader enjoys," Libya's JANA news agency reported.

The other day I heard on Nile sport someone explaining that Algerians are not Arabs but Berbers... and Berbers according to him means hamag and savage...
The guy was very sure about him and started confirming his point of view as being the ultimate truth
actually the guy was confusing between BARBAR and BERBER.
How can such things be diffused and inn direct on TV to the whole world?
Not to talk about media, the amount of insults diffused on TV
What image are we giving to the whole world about Egypt?

Mohaly said...

Yes Nourita, we are partially responsible for that and if we deny that then we are fooling ourselves.

hey Mohaly,
allow me to add a comment about what u said "So now, after all this huge debacle, to whose benefit do you think this is?"
In order to solve all the issues you mentionned we should stop saying that someone is taking advantage of all of this and that the debate between the two countries is a "mo2mara" to m3rfsh eh really ... because its not true .. no one wants to mess up egypt or egyptians or arabs in general because they r messed up already. So instead of blaming the whole world for our failure we should start THINKING what to do to make of egypt a respectable country again!

Thank you for ur amazing posts I really enjoy this blog =)
