Is it bad to be good? Is it good to be bad?

To be ... or not to be.... that is not the question, to be what is the question!!

I once read an article that can summarized as follows:

Remember that in most cases, life isn't fully fair. Therefore the best people in terms of ability don't always get to the top. If you are the best person, that's bad news - if not, then it could be an opportunity.

If you are the best person, will you let's be a bad news for you. Never!

I am believer that great men create their own destiny. There are always risks with turning-point decisions, but without risks how can you make a difference.

If you are the best, keep fighting till you prove you are get what you deserve in or out side the Organization, and if you are not the best, you have to work hard to be so, coz no matter what, time you stay on the top, people will always remember that you weren't the right person in the right place unless you prove so.

On 29th Sep 2008, and because of the traffic Jams Microsoft started bus service for employees & Employees can start work from the bus itself and their office hours counts from the time they start work in the bus.

That is what I call Time Optimization!

That is a conversation between 2 of my blog readers but on another blog discussing should life be nice first in order to be happy, or should we feel happy first in order for life to be nice?

Back from Qatar at last...

Guys, if you think Cairo is hot in summer, be my guest and try Qatar!!

Midnight and you still cant open the window....i stayed the WHOLE week in the room!!! Even if I went out there is nothing to do except 3 malls without extra-ordinary outlets or landmarks...

As my friends living there say it is all about the money... "In Qatar, El Felous zayy el Matar"...
Imagine the fresh Qatari graduate takes at least 7 times the fresh (AUC) graduate in Egypt!

Anyway when I met my friends who are living there, there was always this discussion about should we stay in Egypt and develop it or should we leave till it is better, and if we left how will it be better without the good people who left...it is a closed loop that needs to be broken!!

Why did we stop looking at each others eyes while talking?
Why do we talk while watching TV, browsing the Net, reading paper?

Why don't fathers and mothers give full attention and respect to their kids while talking?

Many of the people working in the private sector are overworking and underachieving the targets (if there are targets aslan), what causes that in your opinion.

P.S. I was surprized to know that the total average salary of the government employees is higher than the private sector!!

I was thinking yesterday about who is the happiest, and what is the best job you can do in Egypt...hmm..think with me, which is the best??!!









- Working for a Multi-national....................till the last drop.
- Working for the private sector.................one man show.
- Working for the Government...................it at least covers a week expenses!
- Working for Yourself (self-employed).....welcome to taxes land.
- Working as a free lancer..........................idea is being installed in the Egyptian mind, give it 10 more years.
- Working virtually and from home...........toooo advanced for Egypt.
- Not-Working (unemployed)....................depends on daddy's status.
- Working as a beggar................................just choose the right people in the right place at the right time.

The Ex-Employee Culture ... Ex-Linkers!!

I don’t know why do we insist on treating our ex-companies or ex-employees as our enemy! Is it because your worst enemy is your ex-best friend...knowing too much about you, your weak points...etc.

hmm, I believe that the companies should be treating its ex-employees - especially the good ones- who were leaving on good terms as its ambassadors, and free word of mouth marketing. It is very weird not to make use of these employees who help in either building or developing their ex-companies.

I even think that companies should be doing something like the Alumni reunion in the universities where they make use of their "out-of-company" view in order to make sure that the company is doing the right thing from internal & external points of view. Definitely I don’t include the people working for the company competitors...that is only in Utopia :)

Since I know that the companies will not do that, let's start by ourselves...the greatest period of my professional career life was spent in LinkdotNet & MSN, and many of my current friends are the ones I met in LinkdotNet as I spent there 7 years from 1998 to 2005. I joined while the company working force is less that 20 and left when it was not very far from 1000 in Egypt and the Middle East. So imagine the no. of jobs, teams, and people i have dealt with.

To cut the long story short, since 2005 many of us has left LinkdotNet for one reason or another -that is not the issue- and there is almost a new team now specially in the products. The common thing between the old team members is being in LinkdotNet, then I think I have every right when I suggest to have an Ex-Linkers Community, even virtually.

This community WILL NOT be -by any mean- a tool for criticizing LinkdotNet or its management because this is a company we all had -at least me- a lot of good days and some bad ones, and leaving it was something that had to happen one day or another coz we develop and if our development doesn’t match with the company, then we wont be THE RIGHT PEOPLE in THE RIGHT PLACE at THE RIGHT TIME..right?

If you don’t wanna name it Ex-Linkers, we can be Ex-products, or even Ex-PDC, and in this case (Ex-PDC) it can include current members in Link who are not in PDC anymore as well.

So I am keeping the floor to you to tell me is this a good or bad Idea, and if good, what is the best way to implement it.
