828) Shari3a, Social Justice, and 3abdo Moota !!

May be the title looks like "samak, laban, tamr hendy" (complete chaos) , but actually the three mentioned topics are extremely related in Egypt after Jan 25th. May be it is a a new version of the be old trilogy of Man, Life, and Control.

I really wonder what do the people in power (Islamists) really want? Ok, they want the application of Shari3a Law, so what?! The vast majority of our laws t driven from Shari3a, or they want a special interpretation of shari3a that keep them having an upper hand over the people in a way close to what the Catholic Church had in the Dark Ages?!

I am actually optimistic when it comes to this point in specific, because no matter how they try, the Egyptian people wont change easily regarding their perception about life and religion ... A short visit in history will tell you how many sects and groups had governed Egypt, and it has always ended up with its own unique interpretation.. just a unique blend of all.

What really worries me is the change of Culture ... There is a deep change in the Egyptian character that has been always known for decency, kindness, helping others, motivated with the least praise...etc. This culture is changing fast to the opposite and it is clear from the people in streets, protests, songs, movies, writing...etc.. and I consider this change as the root for all evil.

Many people may have got offended by the latest movie "3abdo Moota" but a simple fact is that it had scored the highest movie premier income in the history of Arab Movies (and $1 Million in 3 days). This tells you that this kind of culture is now spreading and actually  is prevailing -without any exaggeration. 3abdo Moota is what they call "She3ar El Mar7ala" or the slogan of the current period/era. I was worried about Egypt when "7ena Maysara" movie was released almost 5 years ago (see post 350), and now I can see this culture standing on a solid ground.

What I want to say is that Shari3a won't help changing the culture back as it was there most of the time and wasn't the reason for the change in the 1st place; but the extreme pressure and injustice that happened throughout the last half a century specially in the last 10 years were the main reasons for this change. The only way back is to have a clear and strong applicable strategy to bring Social Justice to Egypt, and without that neither law or Shari3a will be able to bring Egypt People to what they were.

Time is passing fast, and every year the new culture of aggressiveness, selfishness, laziness is fixing its roots, and every year we will waste will make it harder and longer to change ... At a certain critical point, we wont be even able to change as it will be THE real, final, and genuine Egyptian Culture where 3abo Moota will be the icon of the typical Egyptian citizen then...

So my question now is: Is Social Justice a priority? and if Yes, how and when it will be achieved?

yes.social justice is the utmost priority now.and there is noway to delay it more, otherwise we will face a disaster.
but let me go step by step through your post.

the shari3a has been there forever as a solid law and legislation, however the essntial and efficient part never implemented in the past 60 years. with this part i mean the punishments stated in shari3a, that should be implemented on ALL thieves. Was Salah Nasr punished for what he did to millions of Egyptians? he is just one person and we have thousands officers alike throughout Naser's and Mubaraks episodes.
Was Youssef Waly ever charged for toxicating the food of Egyptians for decades?
Was Safwat el Sherif ever put in account for "closing deals" with ladies to do work for him?
I think you already got my point now. the shari3a was implemented in many ways, that is true. in inheritance, marriage, parentship, meaning the social aspect of shari3a or the part realted to social aspects only. but the part i mean was never implemented, that's why life never really went "straight", and here i remember a word of Dr. Tareq el Swaidan

I haven't seen the movie but heard alot about it. one of my friend was wondering how come those who protested at the American Embassy against the Mohammad-movie are the very same who paid this amount to see 3abdo mouta. i dont see it contradictory, actually both run parallel. the culture created over years of unawareness, blinding and complete destruction of the Egyptian personality, morals and believes have led to these 2 movies 7ena maysara and 3abdo mota, and many other personal behaviour that would have been scolded in the past.for example it is pretty normal to find a man totally depending on his wife's and children's earnings while he stays home and abuses them. we never found this case at times of Sadat or Nasser in villages. today this is the normal case between bawabs and simple people.to this extreme we have changed.

I had a similar discussion to what you mentioned here couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine. she lives here since 20 years and was complaining of the extreme violent behaviour of the egyptians. "what went wrong" she was asking me. what happened to the warm, kind and caring nature of the egyptians that forces a foreigner to dissolve in such a kindness and adopts such a behaviour? why did it change?
After a long discussion i found myself murmuring منك لله يا حسني الزفت and when she asked me i translated what i was saying and she approved of my words saying he has perfectly carried out a long term plan to destroy the egyptians that they wont be of any good for anything in the coming 20 years.

the discussion with Heidi was painful, really. but i still have hope that if things change and we have a real justice prevailing in all aspects, the true egyptian personality would be rebuild.
remember the first days of thawra? the true egyptian mentality was back. the warmth, deep care, help, and simplicity came back and was dominating. there were no muslims, christians, sunnah, old or young. ppl just helped out when needed with no big words.
and this nature is the one i am counting on to be rebuild but first we need to get things "straight" again.
when things are back to their straight line movies like "مافيا " and "حكاية حب" will be back as well.

Lets just pray that Allah guids the guys at the Government to some good planning and thinking together with their good "intentions".

Ma3lesh a long comment again :-(

We know it is a priority but are those in power having it as such? are their plans (if any) and decisions bases on social justice or just again and again on how to continue being in power regardless of the people's welfare.

Are we getting better or getting worse?
Do we deserve to get better?
Do we really want to get better? Can we get better? ...
.....

If they don't have it as priority soon they will be forced to set it as such. people won't keep silent and accepting any longer being suppressed and cheated.

What i know for sure that their plans for the time being is rather focused on not to be thrown back into jail and not allowing the old regime to return. it is a fobia that i fully understand. they didn't see it at the times of Mohamed Mahmoud and Magles el Wazraa that their only winning weapon is ppl, that's because they still dont trust and believe in the power of the population. in the past 100 days Morsy got to know that the population count and that if he doesnt move fast to realize social justice he will be thrown out within seconds- by the power of population. the MoI are still trying their best to regain control through increased violence, to only learn it the hard way that ppl have changed. the wall was torn down and will not be rebuild ever, and they'd better adjust to that. still need time to fully get it through their heads. ma3lesh, give them the time.

we are getting better. i wonder how you can ask :-)
we are talking politics, taxi driver are interested to critize Morsy, our Bawab knows the name of the Minister of Environment and is condeming him for not solving the problem of the yearly black cloud :-)
this indicates the change in society. ppl just need time to adjust their lungs to breathing freely.can you blame them for that?
Parents get angry bc their kids are beaing beaten at school, kids protest against violence and dare to dream. this alone is more than enough hope for me.

yes we deserve to get better. everyone deserves to be treated in a human way and has full rights of a human being as Allah created us this way.

yes, we do want to get better. we have reached the lowest of the curve and have been stuck there for years now, until ppl couldn't take it any longer. why do you think millions joined the small group at Tahrir square on 28.01.2011? the struggle you see now is perfectly normal after being years stuck in the darkness, ppl finally DARED to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, we can get better. it takes hope and courage. it takes a free soul to dare and believe in the future.
no matters how dark and bad the situation is now, there will be a new dawn.
doesn't the sun shine every morning after the darkness of the night?

Keep the faith in Allah and ourselves and tomorrow will come.
its not just words, it's what i have witnessed throughtout my loooong life :-)

part 2, as the number of allowed characters was exceeded

part 3 :-)

Anonymous said...

part 4

ya Maryam you impress me as always.. Morsy doesnt seem to get it yet, I hope he can understand before it is too late.

Did you read "bab el khorog" for ezz el din shokry?

thank you ya Doctor :-)
flattered again. I hope you mean with impressing you my own post and not the one copied from the young man to the President.

I am pretty sure that the President will get it soon enough and lets hope he will not be fooled by the doings of some people around him. I guess he needs time to recover from the arresting-fobia and he would stop letting the MoI playing their games. during the past months ppl were insluted allover again just like before. this is his toughest battle to get the MoI in rule.

No, i didnt read arabic books lately. but i will get it and tell you my opinion afterwards.
Or, why dont you invite your followers to read it then post about it and we discuss it here?

I am really happy to see you posting again. keep the spirit :-)
