701) Taxi ... Sorry, it is for Women only !!

Why do all the signs indicate that we are heading into the separation of the society between males and females. Females cars in Metro, female queues, female hours in some services, female only restaurants (like Hanan Turk's one), and lately female only taxi (check). I wonder what else will be female only!

I am not against women having their privacy for one reason or another, but I am afraid one day - especially with the fake religious and wahabi waves invading our society- to wake up and find Cairo another Riyadh!

Agreed...but I think this trend has started as a way of dealing with the harassment women deal with daily in Egypt. This may of course be a vicious circle- God only knows!

Actually the idea of the female only taxi started to help women find a safe way of transportation and it wasn't in the least related to Islam or the eastern culture.
I am pro female only transportation imagine being a woman and having to get into a super crowded subway train. It is less intimidating when it is female only.

Shaimaa, actually i disagree, as it didnt solve anything. the harrasment hasnt to be sexual. when an unveiled woman is harassed because she is not veiled in the women's car then what is the accomplishment here. I agree with sisi and mohaly, it may have benefits but the bigger pic is not good.

It is not for a religous purpose, it is because most egyptian males don't respect the privacy of women or women aslan xD so it is a way to protect us from god knows what men do or say in public. I agree that it didnt decrease harassment, but it is better than not doing anything in this sexist society!

A beauty salon females only, ok, perfect no one will say no to that, but taxi, buses, trains, this will make everything worst in my opinion, men in Egypt, already have a problem by not being allowed near women from many points of view, and by separate them even more, it will not make things better, it will make them worst. All this separatism will just make them even more curious then they already are and more frustrated....Good luck you guys
