853) Life = Time !

With such picture, I don't think I need to write much ...
These men-of-ice are representing us in life ... Everyday passing melts part of us, till at a point in time, we are unable to hold ourselves and collapse. If we sit still doing nothing, it is just a matter of time and no matter how nice we look, we will just melt.
Life is simply the accumulation of TIME, so we would rather pay attention to what we are doing with it before we melt and vaporize.

721) Arabs Money .... Down the Drain !!

Arabs should be entitled for the World Records in consumption, with distinction regarding how silly the fields of consumption are. I will just be mentioning selected numbers from the non-periodical reports of Arab World Consumptions, and briefly commenting..although sometimes I feel that there is no comment, but I will leave that to you to decide...

Outcome of monthly cellular SMS messages that appear on the bar at the bottom of the screen of Arab satellite channels in the downlink convergence (8) million dollars

The cost of producing video clips of Arab songs is (16) billion dollars per year

Total annual income of domestic servants is Arab (35) billion dollars ! or approximately (3) billion dollars a month!!

Total spending by the Arab Women on beauty products in a single year is (2) billion dollars (1.5 billion share of Gulf women!

Total spending by all the Arab countries on scientific research is (1.7) billion dollars annually, representing (0.3%) only of the gross national product
For comparison: in France, 2.7%, Sweden 2.9%, Japan 3% (ie, 10 times as much Arab countries combined), In Israel, 4.7% according to figures from UNESCO for the year 2004)!

The number of illiterates in the Arab world is more than the (100) million,  this means that one of every 3 Arabs can not read or write!!!  And for those who spend their money on books: The average number of books read by an American per year (11) books, and European (7) BooksThe Arab in a single year does not exceed a quarter page
!!!!!!!

P.S. Thank God that the report did not mention how much do Arabs spend on prostitutes and sex escorts.

707) A Day-Use in Moroor !

Yesterday I went to renew my car's lisence. Al Hamduallah, it just took... the whole morning, you can say I had a day-use !

I really dont know why the hell all this info is not saved as data in a pc and connected through network!!

- Why do I have to go to another place and suburb to get/pay my tickets?
- Why do I have to run in the street after someone called Alaa beih to get my plates?
- Why do I have to go to the cashier 3 times, why not pay everything once and for all?
- Why do I have to go to the head officer to fix wrong info after the license is issued? and they have a revision department!!

Anyway it is over, we Kol Sana wenta tayeb ya basha (as everyone used to tell me yesterday)...

Mohaly
P.S. I have to renew the ID next year :((((

670) Hope is born from Despair !

At a certain moment...
when you feel that you lost everything that you have done and there is no time to do it again...
at this specific moment, hope and creativity are born, and you amaze yourself by how good you can do it again and again and even on the right time..
Don't lose hope, you may not be able to change fate, but you can control your destiny..

625) 7adeeth El Saba7 wal Masaa !!!

What will happen to Egypt if its national football team win 14/11 match and joins the world cup? It may be a problem in my vision, but I still can't see why it is sooooooooooooooooo important that we win this match, and why all this time, effort, energy (fights),..etc are being wasted?

check some links in just 1 website:

http://www.masrawy.com/News/Egypt/Sports/2009/november/4/algeria_egypt.aspx

I am definately cheering for Egypt, I even will allow my students to leave 30 mins early to watch the match, but I still can't see why is it as important as October war (as some papers have written)?! Does this mean if Algeria wins, it will be another Naksa that will take another 40 years to fix its consequences.

I am wondering that we have reached a stage where I wish that we take our work as seroius as we are dealing with football issues!

Mohaly

P.S. I have witnessed Egypt in World Cup 1990, and I wish that we win 3-0 and see the Egyptians happy, this doesn't happen a lot.

619) What Women Wear !

Why does the whole society have an issue with what women wear?!!!
If women wear according to fashion, they are too fashionable and airheads.
If they wear sleeveless shirts or mini-skirts, they are provoking the men and unmarried youth.
If they almost don't wear anything (video-clips), they are simply "sluts".
If they wear pants, they look like men.
If they wear Hijab, they are not as good as they trying to show and it doesn't hinder them of doing what they want.
If they wear Niqab, they are terrorists and threatening the liberal potentials & security in Egypt.

Why is it so important to have all these articles, fights, programs, books,....etc about what women wear. They will never wear the same uniform, and even if they do, there will be people fighting to change it (e.g. Iran), and others just have it as a social obligation and that is it (e.g. Saudi)...At the end what I wanna say is that everyone knows what is right and what is wrong, and everyone should do what suits her without hurting others, we shouldn't spend -actually waste- so much time about women's wear, and it just leads not nothing except more problems and more time waste.

611) Being Yourself :: Episode 4 - Social Obligs!

I know that many people may attack me for this post, but that is my opinion, I have to be myself :)

One of the things that provokes me especially in the Arab Culture that people spend sooooooooooo much time in what they call "social obligations" where:
- they visit people they dont wanna visit or dont wanna visit now,
- eat something that they don't wanna eat (and sometimes say wow delecius!),
- sometimes travel to places they dont wanna go with people that they dont wanna travel with,
- inviting people that they dont wanna invite to their home, or even receiving them without prior notice and showing that you are ok!
- and many others (you name it) where you give this poker face (wesh gebs)!

Half of my quarrels with my family is because of "social obligations", look at the word OBLIGATION, 7aga mostafeza!! and everything is just FAKE, hugs, smiles, talk, everything EXCEPT the time passing that will never comeback :(

How can I wake up and decide upon the face I am gonna wear for today's event!!! Why can't I just be myself?!

What will happen if we decided to do what we feel comfortable with and be ourselves WITHOUT BEING RUDE? What will happen if I appoloiged to someone that I cant go out today or I cant recieve him/her in my home today, or that I can't eat heavy stuff, or , or , or.
Will they get mad at me? from my own personal experience, may be for a while, but then people will know that IT IS YOU, and that is who you are and how you wanna lead your life. Believe me, I tried it and people still like me, but without having to be -most the time- doing stuff that I don't wanna do.

Mesh keda bardo?!

581) Diab or Tamer .. Just Enjoy It !!

I don't understand the fierce war taking place on the internet between Amr Diab's and Tamer Hosny's fans! it is becoming redicules begad! People have the right to choose their favorite music, signer, ...etc but i can see that people spend more time attacking each other more than listening to the songs and enjoying the music!

I am a fan of Amr Diab since his early albums, and I love his 90s songs. I can spot many beautiful well-prepared songs in his new album specially the ones tackling the non-common issues like friendship after love. Inspite of that, I blame him for dedicating all 12 songs for love, while in his age, he should include more songs about family (like the one Hisham Abbas did for his son), friendship, even polictics (like Tarateer El 3esely),...etc.

On the other hand I don't like Tamer Hosny not because he is bad but because simply I can't relate to him, what he says, or even the composition of his music. This doesn't mean that someone is better than the other. I don't think they should be compared in the first place, same thing like Abel Halim, and Amr Diab, or Um Kalthoum & Abdel Halim.

Why don't everyone enjoys what he/she wants, and let others enjoy theirs too! wala kol 7aga ba2t Ahly we Zamalek!

547) 6th of October on March 31st!

I am not convinced of what they call National day "Eid Kawmy" of the governorates, as if the governorate is a separate nation or race! but anyway, this is not about should we celebrate that or not.

I was just wondering about the new governorate (6th of October). The governor has been spending his time lately in searching for a day that will be the National day of the governorate!!!! Imagine how silly it is that the only governorate in Egypt that is named after a day of glory is searching for a day to celebrate other than the OBVIOUS day in its name!

You know what day they chose? March 31st!!!!

1. 7ad fahem 7aga?!
2. Why the hell they didn't ask the people living there?

453) Manage Your Vacation - Eps. 3 - How?!

How to enjoy your vacation?

Some of us really know how to get the best of their vacations, while many are not!

To make the best use of your vacation, you should:

1. Know why are you taking it and plan it based on it (see post 451.
2. Know what are the right place to go in the right time and plan based on it (see post 452.
3. Do NOT work during your vacation (a working vacation is a complete schizophrenia)!
4. Plan for the vacation as if it is work, there nothing called I will be happy if I did nothing. This is against human nature.
5. Avoid getting boared, this can be achieved by doing stuff that you are not used to do in your working days; e.g sports, painting, visiting different or new places in your city, knowing new/old people...etc.
6. Avoid the PVS (Post Vacation Syndrome ; bravo ya Shaimaa) by:
a. Preparing the first day after return from work on the last day before you take your vacation. Make sure that you consider your state as well so don't take meetings or set deadlines on that day.
b. returning home at least 1 complete day before you are back to work, and use this day in preparing for work (like 7ogret mo3adelt el daght).

221) Avoiding Office Stress - Avoid Misunderstanding!

A good tip for avoiding doing the wrong task is to make sure your understanding of what your manager wants you to do is the same as his. When you have been given a task of anything greater than a trivial size, write down exactly what you think you have been asked to do. Take this written description to your manager and ask if you have it defined correctly. You could create and use a task specification form to act as a checklist, with headings such as:
· inputs to the task,
· required outputs from the task,
· scope of the task,
· what is not part of the task,
· standards, procedures or previous examples to be used,
· a deadline by when the task should be complete,
· total effort budgeted,
· agreed level of monitoring and coaching (you might as well suggest how much or how little help you need as many managers simply guess what you need and often get it wrong).

"what is the best use of my time at the moment?"
Rarely, the best use of your time is mindlessly chatting to colleagues.
It is simply -usually- about how busy you are ironically enough!

Wanna waste more than 2300 years in a month?!

Of Course I am not surprized to see Cairo on the top of the clogged cities in the world...official numbers say Cairo's population is 15 Million - not including 3ashwa2eyat and some new area if added it will reach 20 Million + people coming or commuting in the daytime...

I am afraid to just think what is Cairo gonna be after 10 years (that is not much...same distance between now and 1997!!)...According to studies Cairo will be a completely clogged city by 2020 where the average ride will be around 2 hours!!! Imagine how much time you need to go from Heliopolis to Tahrir!!! I guess you need to rent an apartment somewhere midway....

The problem other than hot weather, crowd stress...etc..is the time of the people commuting...if you multiply the hours wasted everyday by the no. of people stuck, you will be shocked...if only 1 million commute everyday (government employees only are 5 Million by the way) in cairo and they waste only 1 hour, then we have 1 million hour wasted everyday...in other words on this minimized assumption, we will be wasting about 2300 Years of production every month!!!!

M O H @ L Y

Cairo, Egypt
Population: 15.2 million (official 2nd city) / 25 million (unofficial 1st city)
Density: 36,618 persons per square kilometer.
Egypt's capital also happens to be the cultural capital of the Arab world and the largest city in Africa. Its traffic is overwhelming. It has to be seen to be believed. Compounding the ever more horrendous noise is the variety of vehicles: autos, buses, bikes, vans and trucks on narrow streets with the use of the sidewalk almost a must. The traffic rarely stays in lanes, instead weaving its own tapestry. It is an elemental force.
