797) Gaddafi .. The Inevitable End !

What do you see in these pictures? ...
History repeats itself, right? captured in a hole in home-town, killed by their own people ...
The irony is that Gaddafi sold Libya to the west after Saddam's capturing and killing because he was afraid to have the same end. It is an inevitable end for all Tyrants where the only way out is to respect their people and work for their best.
I am sad that it ended this way, but Tyrant drive their people into insanity. I wonder what Bashar felt like when he saw what happened to Gaddafi by his own people.

This was said by the Tunisian great poet "Al Shaby", and as if he was predicting what will happen in his country.... What happened during the past week ending up with the impeachment of President Ben Ali is something that deserves respect from all the Arab countries. The Chaos happening now is a product of the long years of suppression, but I am sure it is a phase that will pass. AND I HOPE THAT EGYPT WILL BE NEXT on JAN 25th :)

721) Arabs Money .... Down the Drain !!

Arabs should be entitled for the World Records in consumption, with distinction regarding how silly the fields of consumption are. I will just be mentioning selected numbers from the non-periodical reports of Arab World Consumptions, and briefly commenting..although sometimes I feel that there is no comment, but I will leave that to you to decide...

Outcome of monthly cellular SMS messages that appear on the bar at the bottom of the screen of Arab satellite channels in the downlink convergence (8) million dollars! 

The cost of producing video clips of Arab songs is (16) billion dollars per year! 

Total annual income of domestic servants is Arab (35) billion dollars ! or approximately (3) billion dollars a month!! 

Total spending by the Arab Women on beauty products in a single year is (2) billion dollars (1.5 billion share of Gulf women!

Total spending by all the Arab countries on scientific research is (1.7) billion dollars annually, representing (0.3%) only of the gross national product. 

For comparison: in France, 2.7%, Sweden 2.9%, Japan 3% (ie, 10 times as much Arab countries combined), In Israel, 4.7% according to figures from UNESCO for the year 2004)!

The number of illiterates in the Arab world is more than the (100) million,  this means that one of every 3 Arabs can not read or write!!!  And for those who spend their money on books: The average number of books read by an American per year (11) books, and European (7) Books, The Arab in a single year does not exceed a quarter page 

!!!!!!!

P.S. Thank God that the report did not mention how much do Arabs spend on prostitutes and sex escorts.

Yesterday one of my dearest friends (Ammawy) was wondering about the following:

"When they see an attack against Blacks, they call it racism. When they see an attack against Jews, they call it anti-Semitism. When they see an attack against women, they call it male domination. When they see an attack against homosexuality, they call it intolerance. When they see an attack against a religious sect they call it hate. But when they attack "Arabs or Muslims" they call it freedom of speech!!!!!''

The subject grasped my attention, and I asked myself is this because we are really bad, or we are really weak, or we are a threat or the west just cant stand us?

686) Egyptian Humiliation; Feeling Like Home !

I don't think what has happened/is happening to the Egyptians in the last couple of years is a coincidence...


In Khartoum: We was beaten by the Algerians in the streets.
In Darfour: Our peacekeepers were killed.
In Sinai: Our Guards are shot on monthly basis now.
In Saudi Arabia: Our citizens are humiliated.
In Kuwait: We were kicked off the country.
In UAE: We were laid off.
In Algeria: We were poisoned, and our investments are threatened.
In Lebanon: An Egyptian was ... I can even describe what happened.
In Iraq: Our Ambassador was killed.
In Quds: Our Foreign Minister was beaten by shoes.
In Germany: We were killed (Marwa El Sherbini).
In Italy & USA: We were busted and thrown into jails.
In Nile Valley: We were rejected.
In the Mid. and Red Seas: We simply drowned.
In Egypt: We are beaten, rapped, humiliated, killed (on physical and psychological levels),...etc.


It seems that other people want to make us feel home ...


The weird thing that I feel guilty not ashamed... May be because I dont know what to do to stop this snowball of humiliation. It is really hard when you love the country and hate it at the same time.


This country needs a complete revolution and a very soon one as well.

The weird thing in the so called "peace process" is that we sacrificed the mother "Palestine land", the father "Palestine Authority", the baby "Palestine People", and even the doctor "Egypt & Arabs", in order for the killer "Israel" to live!

643) Burj "El Rayyes" !

Yesterday was the grand opening of the tallest man made building in the history of mankind "Burj Khalifa" formerly known as Burj Dubai.

Although I was amazed to see such great structure and ability to deliver, but I was shocked for having this negative fingerprint at the very end of the project. I mean changing the name of a well-known and waited for project at the last minute to hold the name of the country president & AbuDhabi ruler instead of the name of the city it was built on its land.

I know that you may say this is because Khalifa has just bailed Dubai out and saved it from bankruptcy, but they should have paid him back in another way instead of this sudden and confusing change (so far $2M is lost coz of changing the whole branding and gifts).

Even if they were so desperate and there was nothing else to do, they would have played it smarter by calling it Burj Emirates (the name of the country), or Burj Zayed who is the God father of the country and the father current president as well ;)

It is an irony that the icon Dubai built to be its sign of distinction, is named after the ruler of the sister competing city!

Anyway, it was quite an achievement, and I hope it turns out to be successful. For Dubai, I hope to see it back on track again so that it doesn't have to be in such situation again.

If the minister of Transportation has resigned as a reaction for the train crash tragedy, I think the minsiter of social affairs -or whatever they call it these days- should resign 10 times because there are some Egyptians left to lose their lives for 100 pounds. Morever, till when will we accept making fools of ourselves just to get the Arabs' money? whether through renting our females bodies or even throwing ourselves in the Nile -as per the below piece of news- to gain 100 pounds from some few sick-minded Arabs who kept watching and getting it on video.

Justice says that they should be charged of plotting for murder as they were the ones who pushed him to jump and he doesnt know how to swim. I bet they will just sign some papers and then go home to upload the video of the poor guy while jumping, and plan for the next poor Egyptian victim.

573) Good Bye Pop Legend !

Although Michael Jackson hasn't been around for almost a decade, but I think he has contributed one way or another in shaping part of the artistic personality of my generation (1970s). The word pop-music is directly linked to MJ in my mind. I think MJ in western music, and Amr Diab in arabic music were the music icons of our generation.

This guy has lead a misrable life, specially the last 10 years. I don't know why did I feel that, but I felt "makbos" when I heared the news, but when I started reading the readers comments in the the Arab website, I was furious! People are soooo shallow and mainly fighting if he will go to hell or heaven as if they have "tawkeel" from God to decide about that.

If you liked MJ, just feel sorry and keep his songs; if you don't then just ignore the whole thing, but please don't play "God"... listen to his song "Allah Rahim"!

548) Mubarak & the Summit !

I am wondering what is right for Mubarak to boycott the Doha summit earlier this week? 

On one hand, Qatar is misbehaving and jumping over files being handled by Egypt, and they need a statement that shows them this is not right, but on the other hand, the summit is not about Qatar, but about the Arab world and its challenges ... I personally see that Mubarak should have gone and delivered a very strong and assertive speech, and make use of "his experience" with Arabs to have better outcome of the "reconciliation summit!!"....  wala eih?

502) Egyptians' Dignity in Arabia!

What is happening to Egyptians in Saudi Arabia is really unacceptable. I am not only talking about the 2 physicians but Egyptians in general starting from this un-human "Kafeel" system till marrying low class girls and having them as their families servants.

I will not talk about the ex-glory of Egypt and how we reached such stage, but what I wanna say is if we really are looking forward to have dignity (which is the threshold of glory), then we have to reconsider our attitude towards Khalijis in general inside and outside Egypt. I am saying this because the way we treat them in Egypt (beggars attitude) encourages them to treat us like that in their country.

Even if the Saudi's are totally wrong, I won't blame them for now... We have to work on ourselves first, because then we can stand on a solid ground and talk head-to-head with dignity. 

Please don't tell me it is all about the money! there are many poor countries in the world but they still have dignity. We are just letting go of our diginity in Egypt so inturn we are loosing it abroad!

464) Fawazeer Ramadan: Talaat - Tamim, Why?!!

Of course the series that everybody is watching in Ramadan is the Hisham Talaat & Suzan Tamim story which is a new season in a long series since 90s including many businessmen!

Tab3an if this incident was in Egypt with an Egyptian singer, the whole thing would have been buried, but you can tell the power of Dubai here that obliged Egypt to sacrifice one of the most prominent business figures here in order not to loose Dubai.

El mohem, the question that really bothers me and I consider it Fazooret Ramadan 2008: Why the hell such successful person would plan to kill a semi-known singer? Whatever she did, why did he want to kill her?!

457) The Gumus (Noor) Mania !

I usually don't judge stuff before experiencing it, and hence, I didn't want to write about Gumus or Noor Soap Opera before at least watching an episode which I finally did, and I even couldnt finish it.

I have nothing against the series itself, although I find it VERY boarding (Bold & the Beautiful style), but what I really don't like about it the insanity and the way Arab people dealing with it. I can simply say I HATE it because of: (from least important to most important)

1. It is taking much more area in our lives and discussions than it deserves. "Eshal" Noor on TV, magazine, newspapers, talks, ads, video clips,...etc...Just too much.

2. It makes girls look silly with their un-justified mania about Mehmet (Mohannad in the Arabic version of the series; although it means Mohamed in Turkish!). Nice romantic model, so what, not the first, not the last!

3. It encourages the Arabs to show the "Safah" part in our culture; e.g. Kuwati business man decided to have his wedding in the Villa Mohannad and Noor are living in and invited the audience (including tickets from and back to Kuwait).

4. Egypt lost a lot of cash coming from Arab Tourism that shifted to Turkey this summer (actually I blame the zillion Egyptian TV productions here coz they couldn't attract Arabs as Turkish Noor did).

5. It caused A LOT of problems and broke up families (3 divorces and counting)!

I can't -and I don't have the right - to say Stop Noor and Boycott Noor as Saudi's did, but we should:

1. Study why did it succeed to that extent.

2. Make use of that in empowering our productions.

3. Dig into the real causes of the problems (in relations, tourism,...etc).

4. Put it in its real size, we kefaya Noor ba2a, coz I am afraid someday I open the fridge and find Noor Ad!

456) Mauritania : Gat El 7azina Terfa7 !!

I really cant find better than this colloquial proverb to describe democracy in the Arab World. After we considered Mauritania a new promising democratic model and the Arab India of democracy, a sever and fatal drop happened after going back to the military actions!

I think the only happy people are the non-Democratic Arab leaders who will consider it a proof that "el democratia matenfa3sh ma3 el 3arab"!
