826) In Love & Respect ..!

Which is most needed Love or Respect ... If you have 2 choices only; would you live with someone who loves you but doesn't respect you enough, or someone who loves you but doesn't love you enough?

Research reveals that during marital conflict a husband most often reacts when feeling disrespected and a wife reacts when feeling unloved.  We asked 7,000 people this question: when you are in a conflict with your spouse or significant other, do you feel unloved or disrespected?  83% of the men said "disrespected."  72% of the women said, "unloved."  Though we all need love and respect equally, the felt need differs during conflict, and this difference is as different as pink is from blue!"


I personally if I cant have both as much, then I would choose Respect over love, as love can't stand for feeling disrespected (and that is a relative word from one person to another). If I don't feel respected, I can't even express love and care.

I remember I have read a email saying "If you are single, they ask about a fiancé.When you have a fiancé,they ask for a wedding. When you get married,they ask for children.Once you have one,they ask for another.if u get divorced,they ask why.If you try to start Your life again,they ask why so quickly."


People never like what you do, and you can live your life only once, so you'd better live your own experience with all its ups and downs.

787) A Career in Tahrir !

Whether you are with or against or even undecieded regarding the 25th of Jan Revolution, you for sure won't be happy with what the street vendors and beggers are tunrining Tahrir square into these days.
For business reasons, I visit Tahrir at least 2 times a week -some weeks daily-, and I really hate what I am seeing from these vendors who are fighting each other for occupying bigger areas of the great square, the icon of our revolution. I was even an eye witness to the last couple days events and big part of it was because of or involving these street vendors.

This is not about July 8th Protests, but I am just against taking Tahrir as a Career whether for street vendors, beggars, thugs, or even any un-peaceful revolt. It has to be kept as an Icon of a clean and great revolution, and I really don't understand what is the SCAF waiting for to build the Martyrs Memorial in the middle of it.

786) And The Professional Prize goes to ........... ! !

My work (academic, corportae, and development) and education allowed me to meet and deal with thousands of people in different places and from different races. The surprising thing is that the more people I meet, the smaller percentage of professional people I experience.

The Ironic thing is that the most professional and competent person whom I deal with on daily basis is the laundry guy (el Makwagy). Why? 

- He knows his work and competencies by hard. (Edge)

- He never missed a deadline. (Punctual)

- He is always quick without compromising on the quality. (Customer Oriented)

- He delivers consistent and reliable service. (Quality)

- He doesn't over promise. (Confident)

- He never steals something left in a piece of cloth. (Honest)

- He has hard working environment in the streets and he never complains (Reliable)

- He doesn't interfere in my life and talk about his life. (Seprates Business & Personal)

- He treats all his clients the same way regardless of their religion or social standard. (Fair & Liberal).

How many people who do meet on daily basis and are driven by such values. I really wonder about the sercret of his professionalism in a country that has sneaky and unprofessional attitude "fahlawa" as a core competency! and how does he keeps his motivation and satisfaction.

For all the people living in Egypt and reading this blog... this is the time for you to take part in rebuilding what we lost... We went protesting defending our freedom and rights, and we stood in streets defending our properties and families... it is time now to defend our society and economy as well..WHILE KEEPING PROTESTING.. President Mubarak has to go along with the whole regime, OUR REVOLUTION IS NOT OVER YET.

Let's rebuild trust in our economy, 

let's not buy foreign currencies now,

let's just withdraw what we need, 

let's buy Egyptian products even if less quality,

let's cancel our leisure vacations abroad and do it inside Egypt,

let's work more quality hours and waste less time,

let's clean our neighbourhoods, and help in rebuilding the shops and places we used to go to,

let's keep the spirit of solidarity and tolerance,
let's help those who lost their income, get out our Zakah and 3oshoor now.

Let's Give EGYPT a chance ... coz it deserves.

May be the only positive thing that resulted from the terrorist attack on Christians is that it showed how Egyptians (Muslims and Christians) are united, let's continue this solidarity and celebrate tonight the Eastern Christmas with our fellow citizens.

P.S. before some of those people who usually come and ye7aramo 3aleena 3eshetna and start lecturing us in the comments (especially those who dont write their names). Please note that Islam respects and honors the birth of Jesus, so it is not something against our faith.

723) Muslim ... Mase7y ... Egyptian!

I really don't understand the silly discussions regarding Muslims and Christians that are taking part in all sorts of media during the last couple of months.

I think there are some major stuff regarding life, principals, morals...etc that has to do with our everyday life that are common in both religions and that is the most important thing. Co-existence and our relations have no contradiction with what came in both religions.

Our differences come about major stuff as well, but stuff that has nothing to do with the present life, it is either about what happened in the past or what will happen in the afterlife. In both cases we shouldn’t waste our time about it coz both followers (Muslims & Christians) won’t change their believes, and even if they did, it won’t matter in such case.

Jesus was crucified or not, who will go to heaven, will he come back to fight with or against Muslims... all of these issues don't affect our current life and having major disputes and even fights about it doesn't benefit anyone.

We do both agree about the main values in life, ethics, morals, we look alike, talk alike, and have common history and common destiny. This should drive us both to unite in order to save ourselves and our country from its long setback and don't take into further drops... None of us benefit from what is happening, only common enemies do.

I do like my Christian friends and colleagues -actually the girl I liked the most in my life was Christian- and I don't know a reason of hating them or considering them different in any form. Or as my dear friend Ehaab Abdo sings: "Muslim...Mase7y... Ana Masry".

We are both Egyptians, and we both own and will live this land till the end of life...Other than that, we won't have a country to fight about in the first place!

Till when will some of the police officers treat us like animals, actually like insects?! Does the word human mean anything to them? It is not "7awadeth Fardeya" anymore. Beating us is a trend and for no real reason. What the hell did we do to them? We are eating shit and trying to be as patient as "Ayoub".... Eihhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fen el ra7ma, mesh keda, mesh keda, walahi 7aram..... La Ilah ila Allah, 7asbya Allah feekom.

 خالد محمد سعيد صبحى(28 عاما) مات وسط زهول الجميع ,وصمت الجميع!!

خالد لم يكن إرهابيا مطاردا تطلبه الشرطة -حيا او ميتا - ولم يكن يمثل خطرا على أى شئ فى الحياة ,التى فارقها دون ذنب ,أو جريمة .

..كعادته ذهب خالد "الى نت كافيه" بشارع بوباست , بمنطقة كليوباترا , التابعة لقسم شرطة سيدى جابر!! واثناء جلوس خالد فى "النت كافيه" لاحظ دخول مخبرين يفتشون رواد الكافيه بغلظة لم يقبلها خالد مبديا امتعاضه فقط ..

.. وقبل ان يبدى خالد اعتراضه على الإجراء التعسفى ,سحبه المخبر محمود الفلاح من ملابسه وصفعه على وجهه,لم يكذب عوض المخبر الأخر زميله الفلاح و انهال على خالد بالصفعات ,واللكمات,حتى سقط الشاب خالد على ارض النت كافيه وسط ذهول الجميع من رواد الكافيه و اصحابه

..فجأه أمسك أحد المخبرين برأس خالد ,وظل يرطمها فى رخامة بالمقهى ,حتى فقد خالد الوعى ,وسالت الدماء من فمه و وجهه ,بينما اصحاب المقهى يتوسلون للمخبرين بالتوقف عن ضربه , فسحبه أحدهم مرة أخرى الى مدخل عقار مجاور للمقهى و أنهالوا عليه ركلا وضربا ورطما لجسده بمدخل العقار وبوابته الحديدية 

..خالد كان يلفظ أنفاسه الاخيرة ,بينما الجناة يحملون جسده النحيل و يلقون به داخل سيارة الشرطة ,التى انطلقت به بعيدا عن عيون الناس والشهود وعادت بعد مده بسيطة لتلقى بالجثة فى قارعة الطريق!!

..مات خالد .. دون ان يعرف جريمته,دون أن يفهم احد لماذا قتلوه!!

686) Egyptian Humiliation; Feeling Like Home !

I don't think what has happened/is happening to the Egyptians in the last couple of years is a coincidence...


In Khartoum: We was beaten by the Algerians in the streets.
In Darfour: Our peacekeepers were killed.
In Sinai: Our Guards are shot on monthly basis now.
In Saudi Arabia: Our citizens are humiliated.
In Kuwait: We were kicked off the country.
In UAE: We were laid off.
In Algeria: We were poisoned, and our investments are threatened.
In Lebanon: An Egyptian was ... I can even describe what happened.
In Iraq: Our Ambassador was killed.
In Quds: Our Foreign Minister was beaten by shoes.
In Germany: We were killed (Marwa El Sherbini).
In Italy & USA: We were busted and thrown into jails.
In Nile Valley: We were rejected.
In the Mid. and Red Seas: We simply drowned.
In Egypt: We are beaten, rapped, humiliated, killed (on physical and psychological levels),...etc.


It seems that other people want to make us feel home ...


The weird thing that I feel guilty not ashamed... May be because I dont know what to do to stop this snowball of humiliation. It is really hard when you love the country and hate it at the same time.


This country needs a complete revolution and a very soon one as well.

656) No Hard Feelings - Series Intro !

It is the Valentine's Week again ... last year I have dedicated a whole week of posts for it, and some of you have written about this coverage in their blogs and online magazines.

This year, allow me to interrupt "The Vision" series with a new series that will go in parallel: "No Hard Feelings". This series is mainly dedicated for the signs that men give women and how to understand it right, the problems that arise from mis-understanding, and false assumptions made by women in reading men... I think that the best time to launch the series is while people celebrating the Love festival; the Valentine's ;)

Women -in general- have their own dictionary about men; unfortunately, this dictionary is always written and developed by women. In order to understand a man, you need to know it from a man not a woman, no matter how much this woman know men. You can consider this series -along with "What Men Want" that I have written in Summer 2008- a quick key to better understanding of men.

Men and Women do a big mistake by insisting on evaluating and interrupting each others actions and words with their own perceptions. This ends up in positioning the relation between them as a racing competition rather than an integration. Such noise created by the competition blocks their vision, and make them fail to realize that in a competition there should be a winner and a loser. However, men and women relations can't afford a loser; and hence, both of them will lose on the long term. We can't just keep competing, WE WILL BOTH LOSE.

So before going into this series' episodes, I want you to list what are the stuff that you need me to cover in this series; hence, I can take it into consideration in the rest of episodes. This is not for female audience only, I need men to tell me as well what they want to make it more clear to women to have better understanding and relations..

P.S. This may open the floor for quarrles, so please accept each other's opinions.

644) The Christmas Fatwa!

I don't really understand the recent fatwa from some of the Muslim Shiekh's about avoiding not only celebrating Christmas, but also not even congratulating our Christian friends!

As a Muslim, I know since I was a little kid the prestigious positioning the Christ (Al Masee7 Ebn Mariam) has in Quran and Islam, and how he is among the most prominent messengers of Allah (2olo el 3azm). I also know that Virgin Mary (Mariam Al 3azraa) is one of the most sacred ladies in Islam. Moreover, the birth of the Chirst was positioned as a divine miracle more than once in Quran. So Islam does acknlowge the birth of the Christ and the miracle behind it, so what is wrong when people congratulate their Christian friends about it?!

Even if we have different points of views about the nature of Christ, this doesn't deny the fact that it is his birthday afterall, and on his birthday -peace be upon him- I am telling all my Christian Orthodox Readers today... MERRY CHRISTMAS :)

607) The Certainty about Virginity!

I find the way we handle the issue of virginity in our society a pure sort of hypocrisy and double standards. How come we are entering the 2nd decade of the 21st century, and a vast majority of us are still valuing and classifying women according to z-sometimes only according to- physical virginity?

I am not calling for having an open pre-marital sexual relations (although I still believe that it is totally a personal choice, and something that is hard to judge as it is All mighty God's not us who can judge, and punish- unless publically witnessed by 4 which is practically almost impossible ...etc.).

For the Hypocrisy part, we all know that now it is very easy for any girl to do what she wants and keep her virginity:

1. Either by going through all the steps the last step (you know what I mean).

2. Having an operation.

3. And now the latest Chinese -why am I not surprized- invention below!

So are we fooling ourselves or what?

For the Double Standards, I can't understand how come it is relatively acceptable -sometimes "desirable"- for men to have pre-marital sexual relations while women are always to be blamed and judged! I personally see virginity as an attitude and respect before being a physical test to prove it, whether you are a man or a woman!

Last and not least, why I do I feel that China understands us more than ourselves? They know that the Arab Culture is generally pro being satisfied if everything in public or on paper is fine, even if it is actually not!

586) A Citizen's Resignation !

Dear Sir,

Please accept my resignation from the "egyptian citizen" position, a position - to start with - that has no job description, no KPIs, even no clear requirements ... A position that also doesn't have a clear accountability or even equality between who does something and who does nothing ... Since I was appointed in this position and nobody hears, repects me, or bothers to know if I am on the right track or not. This has lead to accumulated stress and de-motivation that -in turn- lead to my decision to resign.

I wish you better luck with a better citizen who can fit into your "system".

581) Diab or Tamer .. Just Enjoy It !!

I don't understand the fierce war taking place on the internet between Amr Diab's and Tamer Hosny's fans! it is becoming redicules begad! People have the right to choose their favorite music, signer, ...etc but i can see that people spend more time attacking each other more than listening to the songs and enjoying the music!

I am a fan of Amr Diab since his early albums, and I love his 90s songs. I can spot many beautiful well-prepared songs in his new album specially the ones tackling the non-common issues like friendship after love. Inspite of that, I blame him for dedicating all 12 songs for love, while in his age, he should include more songs about family (like the one Hisham Abbas did for his son), friendship, even polictics (like Tarateer El 3esely),...etc.

On the other hand I don't like Tamer Hosny not because he is bad but because simply I can't relate to him, what he says, or even the composition of his music. This doesn't mean that someone is better than the other. I don't think they should be compared in the first place, same thing like Abel Halim, and Amr Diab, or Um Kalthoum & Abdel Halim.

Why don't everyone enjoys what he/she wants, and let others enjoy theirs too! wala kol 7aga ba2t Ahly we Zamalek!

I am not sure that we have the right to mock as we will be surprized if we asked similar questions to the "ordinary" Egyptians in the street!

We can't consider Americans as idiots; they definitely have a relatively low knowledge about the world when compared to Europeans, but this doesn't mean they are idiots as some people claim. I can't deny there are some super idiots in USA and sometime they become the president for 8 years! but this doesn't deny the fact that the biggest percentage of the people who contributed to the development of the world in the last 100 years were Americans too, they were Idols not idots.

They should try to know more about other nations (as Obama is doing now), and we should help them to get to know more about us, and we should read more about the real America not the Hollywood America as well in order to have a common threshold for a better understanding.

The more understanding, the less problems.. but taking into consideration that there will always be problems!!

502) Egyptians' Dignity in Arabia!

What is happening to Egyptians in Saudi Arabia is really unacceptable. I am not only talking about the 2 physicians but Egyptians in general starting from this un-human "Kafeel" system till marrying low class girls and having them as their families servants.

I will not talk about the ex-glory of Egypt and how we reached such stage, but what I wanna say is if we really are looking forward to have dignity (which is the threshold of glory), then we have to reconsider our attitude towards Khalijis in general inside and outside Egypt. I am saying this because the way we treat them in Egypt (beggars attitude) encourages them to treat us like that in their country.

Even if the Saudi's are totally wrong, I won't blame them for now... We have to work on ourselves first, because then we can stand on a solid ground and talk head-to-head with dignity. 

Please don't tell me it is all about the money! there are many poor countries in the world but they still have dignity. We are just letting go of our diginity in Egypt so inturn we are loosing it abroad!

493) Obama: The Dream & Reality !

I am not dreaming that US president will care about us, coz it is all about benefits in politics. But I am really happy that Obama won the presidency because he is a symbol of someone who challenged everyone, came over taboos and granted stuff, and was persistent enough to plan and reach his goals.

I respect the American people who had the guts to know that they were wrong for the last 8 years and it is about time to fix their mistake (67% of states voted for change)!

Obama is really an international president, born in Hawaii, has african father, had his childhood in Asia, and is an American citizen.... black father, white mother.... Muslim father, secular mother, and Christian child... it is rare to find all these stuff in one person.

I dream one day I can see in Egypt competing candidates from different parties, among which are women and coptic candidates as well.
