218) A new Stage!

Guys, starting tomorrow, I am starting a new phase in my business life where I stand on solid ground in the different stuff I do :) and since my business life is about 75% of my life, hence i decided to change my personal life as well and become closer to my friends..

This means that starting tomorrow I cant continue writing on daily basis like I did during the past 4 months. However, I promise not to write less than 20 posts per month; i.e average 2 posts every 3 days.

This is a sentence in one of Prophet Muhammad sayings when he was talking about the best qualities of a wife. I like the word very much, very simple word but has deep meanings coz the ultimate thing that we are looking for is happiness, and when it comes from your life-partner, it is the optimum.

213) The New Generation National Anthem!!

In this dirty old part of Cairo
Where the sun refused to shine
People tell us there ain't no use in tryin'

"Now you're so young and pretty
And one thing we know is true
You'll be dead before your time is due, we know"

We gotta get out of this place
If it's the last thing we ever do
We gotta get out of this place
'cause guys, there's a better life for me and you

Somewhere baby, somehow I know it
Believe me baby
I know it baby
You know it too

212) Is Egypt the one to blame for Hamas' acts?!

This is how Israelis see Mubarak, and Egypt!
Mohaly

In initiating tomorrow's Sharm a-Sheikh summit, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has seemingly placed himself solidly on the high moral ground.

Mubarak will likely gain excellent international press for trying to snatch a residual chance of peace from out of Gaza's fundamentalist jaws. Few commentators, or indeed international political leaders, can be expected to spoil the festivities by observing that Mubarak is directly and heavily culpable for the Gaza debacle.

Mubarak, who had promised to halt gunrunning into Gaza and who secured for the purpose Israel's consent to increase the number of Egyptian troops at the frontier - a revision of the meticulously drafted original peace treaty - did not make a remotely credible effort to fulfill his undertakings.

As a result of these failures, Hamas was so massively reinforced and so heavily armed that it could, besides inflicting daily rocket barrages on Israel, also overthrow and humiliate Fatah and Abbas. Egyptian negligence, in other words, contributed mightily to the downfall of the very forces that Mubarak is now ostensibly leading the rush to bolster.
The most absurd and deeply disturbing aspect of Mubarak's failure to exercise his sovereign responsibilities is the fact that, by empowering an offshoot of the same Muslim Brotherhood movement which continues to torment his political establishment, he is contributing to the destabilization of his own hold on Egypt.

He has helped, similarly, to jeopardize Hashemite rule in Jordan. Will Jordan's mightily worried king, who along with Olmert and Abbas is invited to participate in tomorrow's summit, tell Mubarak this to his face? It's unlikely, just as it's unlikely that Olmert will remind Mubarak of his broken promises about securing the Philadelphi Corridor. This despite the fact that Mubarak helped facilitate the establishment by Iran and Syria - two regimes he distrusts and has reason to fear - of a bastion in Gaza.

197) Why are Egyptians so Noisy?!

I got this on my mail and thought of sharing it with you guys...I think it is worth reading and discussing...
Mohaly

Away from stereotypes and generalizations, why are we –Egyptians- so noisy? Why are we loud?
Down the street, at home, in a train, in a cinema, in the opera house, even in the desert!
When I say we, I don’t exclude myself and I don’t mean all Egyptians. The beeping horns, the loud music, the f__ mobile phone tones…what is it? Did we develop a “culture of noise”? Or has it always been the case?
I’m trying a naïve synopsis, and you are all invited to disagree, agree, and comment, to the end of the list:

First: Freedom & Ignorance
Given the high rate of illiteracy (let alone the decay of ethics), many Egyptians don’t even know what freedom means. They don’t know what it means enjoying their lives (sometimes, through very noisy practices) without offending or annoying others. None of us was spared a noisy street wedding or a funeral’s loudspeakers next door.

Second: Despair & Selfishness
I think there are millions of Egyptians who feel that “we’re going nowhere, we stand no chance”. If the ship is sinking anyway, then at least let’s enjoy our last hour! We will do it selfishly and noisily!

Third: Passiveness
A legacy of oppression, ignorance and absence of basic human rights fermented into a passive attitude towards everything and everyone, including those idiots who play their music at loudest, those who talk and laugh loud down every street and corner, to the end of the list.

Fourth: Heritage & the Big City
Since day one, a newborn is exposed to every form of noise that there is! Zaghareet, seboo3, loud birthdays…they grow up into a city of 18 million plus…a city of over a million cars…a city that never sleeps.

Fifth: Attention
A guy wants to impress a girl, and because he (and probably she) knows no other means to impress a lady other than money, muscle and property, he draws her attention using the common language of noise (honking, latest song, mobile ring tones, etc! You only need one train ride to experience the entire range of the mobile phone ring tones on earth…
And because I’m not a money and muscle guy, I come to realize that I am “only a voice in a city of noise” as Chris de Burgh once said! But no…Templars: We are all responsible…be positive…don’t be noisy…don’t let noise rule.

196) MAID in Egypt!!

This title is the best comment I have seen (by Sherif El Alfi on 4/6) regarding the issue of sending Egyptian maids to work in Saudi Arabia to replace the Asian ones!

Anyway, I say 3azeema ya Masr, when I was kid, we used to send Teachers (knowledge), Doctors (health), and Engineers (development). Now we are sending them Maids (sanity), and very soon prostitutes (pleasure)...although i have doughts that "sanity" MAY turn into "pleasure" !

192) Watch out from getting Tanned!

Summer is starting (except 3and Gypo) and all of us like getting tanned. It looks sexy and yummi but do you know that there is a dark side of it?

According to the Weekly Spark many people assume that a tan protects them, when in fact a tan is actually a sign of skin damage. Tanning is the skin’s reaction to UV radiation from the sun or an artificial tanning bulb. When skin is exposed to UV rays, it tries to protect itself by producing a brown pigment called melanin, which darkens the cells of the outer layer of skin. Tanning is your skin’s imperfect defense mechanism against further damage, and darker tans cause the most permanent damage.

So did you like my new tan ;)

191) Mesh "Na2sa" kalam 3al "Naksa"!

Today marks 40 years since Nakset June 1967. All of our generation wasn't born at that time, and even our parents were in High school or College. However, till now we consider it the reason of what Egypt is passing through till now in spite of the following:

1. We have been living in peace since 28 years out of the 40!
2. Japan & Germany had a Waska in 1945, and 40 years later -1985- they were flying high.
3. The real Naksa of our generation was on August 2nd (Iraqi invasion).

I believe that we talk tooooo much about is it naksa or hazima, who is responsible for it...etc and forget that the real Naksa is what we are passing through now -corruption, ignorance, illness, ..etc- and if we didn't stop talking and start doing soon, we will be heading fast into another Moseeba not only Naksa!

‘It seldom happens that a man changes his life through his habitual reasoning. No matter how fully he may sense the new plans and aims revealed to him by reason, he continues to plod along in old paths until his life becomes frustrating and unbearable—he finally makes the change only when his usual life can no longer be tolerated.’
— Leo Tolstoy

184) Time Management : The four generations! Which one are u in?

According to Steven Covey...

First generation: reminders
- Followers of this approach limit their time management efforts to keeping lists and notes.
- They see these papers as reminders.
- Items that are not done by the end of the day are transferred to the next day's list in the evening.

Second generation: planning and preparation
- People in the second generation use calendars and appointment books.
- They will note where meetings are held and identify deadlines; this is sometimes even done on a computer.
- As opposed to the first generation, the second generation plans and prepares, schedules future appointments, and sets goals. This in turn saves their time.

Third generation: prioritizing, controlling
- Third generation time managers prioritize their activities on a daily basis.
- They tend to use detailed forms of daily planning on a computer or on a paper-based organizer.
- This approach implies spending some time in clarifying values and priorities.

Fourth generation: being efficient and proactive
- Stephen R. Covey, in First Things First, refers to his approach as the 4th generation time management, and emphasizes the difference between urgency and importance in planning.
- For example: some people may go their entire lives completely missing out on important things (like spending time with their children before they have grown up) because it was never "urgent."
- The point is not to ignore urgent things, but to embrace important things without waiting for them to become urgent.
- Urgency can be deceptive. It can make some unimportant things appear to be important. Also, making time for important things may require spending less time on unimportant things, regardless of their urgency.
