Why don't we take a break from politics and serious issues, and talk about one of the most popular yet trivial subjects in this blog; Miss Egypt. This is the picture of Miss Egypt in the latest contest that took place in China. I can see that Miss Egypt representation in the International Miss World Contests is getting more and more REVEALING.
Remember the famous post (585) I had here 4 years ago wondering "howa fee eih; what's wrong?" and then again with a video in post (685). I guess my question is still valid, and my lower jaw is still dropping ;)

3adi, it's just a bikini swim suit. whats wrong with it?

ReplyDeleteda ana mostamte3 :)
but talking about the "swimming" suit, I just wonder what is it doing on the stage. As far as know there isnt a body of water there that requires wearing it .. or wait a minute, ah it is like being in your underwear on the stage ;)
I have not see this coming. Dayman betfage2na ya Mo.

sorry, wrong file, updated it ..
ReplyDeleteit seems that i have them all :)
I could never understand the point of the swim suit part. They say the winner doesnt have to be the most beautiful of looks, and selections supprt it. I havent been following for many years now, and still think the part with soiree dresses is better.
ReplyDeleteI wonder, where does this stand from the "islamic nahda project".
Tayeb, enjoy ya doctor. Good change from politics bardo.
Lol ya Maryam Entee tayeba awee:)) lazem ya 7abity yerfa3o el ma2asat for the evening dress:)) 3'aradhom shareef
ReplyDeleteYa Sohad the measures show, dear :-). Bas ok, ana ha3mel 3abitah.
ReplyDeleteBut i still wonder bardo why haven't i heard any rejecting voices; this time they would have been right, though.
Shoftee 3alashan 2ntee tayeba bardo:)) rejecting voices here means genuine values, believes and ideology..clear direction for the country..ya3nee Ardogan style:)))

A silly question I always have wondered about ... What is the difference between the bikini and underwear?! why is it ok to wear bikini in a public beach and a shame to walk in your underwear, aren't they both covering the same areas in almost same cuts!!
ReplyDeletehere it would be a disaster anyway, so i don't think your question is related to Egypt anyway.
ReplyDeleteif you mean outside, i don't think there are any restrictions for walking in a bikini on streets, however i never came across such a case :-). it might be just that they are organized enough not to do so.
Hehehe.. Da7aktenee.. It's the same difference between the evening short dresses & night gowns or lingerie..
ReplyDeleteEl 7adota dee kolaha is all about ( material & context ) where to wear.. So the thing is can girls swim with underwearsinstead of bikini in a public beach, the answer is NO 3alashan el material dee matenfa3sh for swimming & not about what's covered & what's not.
Can people wear their swimming suits in the streets Or somewhere else NO, it won't fit in the context or fulfill the purpose..
The different between Bikini and Underwear, the first is made to absorb sweat. but the second doesn't absorb water :):)
ReplyDeleteAnswering your Q from my view , may be becoz Bikini is an expensive clothe and you know most of girls tend to wear expensive cloth no matter what it covers to get attention to their appearance :)
feeling that my answer wala liha 3elaka be ay 7aga....bas te3mel eih ba2a fi dema'3 el banat :)
ya Asmaa, dema3' elbanat zay elfol, dear.
ReplyDeletei agree with your analysis of differences :-)
not all expensive cloths are beautiful, so are actually ugly, so is a bikini, in my opinion :-)
My dear Mariam, what i meant here be dema'3 el banat how think this way :) we 3ashan keda ba2ol my answer wala liha 3elaka be ay 7aga logic ye3ny :)
ReplyDelete@ Asmaa, i was just teasing, dear :-)
ReplyDeleteohhh women ... was that the purpose my question bardo? u r getting me into silly details about fabric..etc
ReplyDeleteI am talking about the feeling.. for us as guys, you are revealing the same when you are wearing a bikini or underwear .. so why walking proud in bikini (at the beach) and ashamed in underwear (even at a private place).
Maho there is no logic answer for your question aslan :)
ReplyDeleteMariam...I konw habibty :)
ReplyDeleteya Doctor, actually those who wear bikini on a beach wouldn't feel ashamed in underwear, even at a private place.
ReplyDeleteand vice versa.
it is the nature of the person and what she is accustomed to.
hehe, wade7 enk ba2aleek keteer mashofteesh banat :)

ReplyDeleteYa Mariam I think I twill be hard for us to assume on behalf of them, so the question should be directed to women in bikini.. My mental and emotional capabilities mesh hategeeb el 7al:))

everything is so confusing and bad. this is ugly. too ugly to bear.
to answer your question and trying to take my mind off the events:
ReplyDeletethe designers, dear, know that many women run after mode and new trends. so it is a good business that never fails, no matters what is going on in the world.
you can say it is the call of life against the call of death :-)
i am not making any sense, either.
We are not suppose to make sense 7'ales:))) we are suppose to vent 3alashan el 7ala matfar2a3sh " the brain".

What i meant earlier is i wont compete ya3n i wont enter it aslan. Was never into such games.
Miss or mr.egypt, the true ones, should be completely different.
Hi all :)
ReplyDeleteMissed u all ....what an interesting discussion....haven't read all comments cause I'm out but to answer ur question Mohaly I would like to point out that z woman who walks on stage or beach in a bikini swimming suit won't feel any discomfort in walkin in underwear if she wishes to ....I guess the answer is related to culture n society values in addition to each person's values n sense of appropriatness.
Of course confident woman or man would feel confident even in a swimming suit !
Sohad, i dont know how i didnt see your kind invitation before. The morning coffee doesnt work properly these days.
ReplyDeleteThank you, rabena yekhaliky. I would love to have a cup of anything with you dear.
Lobna.welcome back. I hope you are fine.

ReplyDeleteThe Dictionary Definition:
ReplyDeleteA beauty pageant or beauty contest, is a competition that mainly focuses on the physical beauty of its contestants, although such contests often incorporate personality, talent, and answers to judges' questions as judged criteria. The phrase almost invariably refers only to contests women and girls; similar events for men or boys are called by other names and are more likely to be bodybuilding contests. Winners of beauty contests are often called beauty queens. Children's beauty pageants mainly focus on beauty, gowns, sportswear modelling, talent, and personal interviews. Adult and teen pageants focus on makeup, hair and gowns, swimsuit modelling, and personal interviews. Possible awards include titles, tiaras or crowns, sashes, savings bonds, and cash prizes.
why am i not surprised that you looked up the Dictionary Definition :-)
ReplyDeleteAll in all i find them wasting of time, effort and money with no sense behind. why should someone be rewrded for being beautiful, if she didn't create herself. and with plastic surgerys she simply "decieved" the judges.
for me, this part has been always the blind following of western, that absolutely has no impact on us.
how did i forget to put that link (part 2 of Miss Egypt)
ReplyDeletehttp://mohaly.blogspot.com/2010/05/685-miss-egypt-kamam-we-kaman.html
what was wrong with her?
ReplyDeleteI remember the ladies in the episodes i watched didnt walk this way. it was a confident walk with grace back then :-)
habla we masekoha tabla
ReplyDeletea habla shouldn't be representing Egypt :-)
ReplyDeletewe have alot of them nowadays anyway.
yareitha kanet fedlet heya bas
really sad
tayeb, another question. ma3lesh bear with me a little:
ReplyDeletewhy do you guys find her beautiful? asl we, ladies, have different criteria than you to judge.
actually no one of my male friends was able to answer the question in general.
I dont find that walking habla beautiful khales..
ReplyDeleteplus I am the last guy to ask about typical male perspective in beauty. I get turned off by make-up, artificial hair, strong perfume, gold, pants, and lingerie.. and I am attracted to simple dresses (even overalls), smell of shampoo and lotion, natural hair, and medium to small sized women.
i was just asking because my male colleagues and friends really have weird taste. ya3ni they find things beautiful that are completely artificial. ya3ni for example one of them finds Maya Diab, presenter of deal or no deal, a faboulous beauty. which i don't understand. for me she is more of a Barbie.
ReplyDeleteLOL... you have cracked me up.. thank you
ReplyDelete7elwa yaaa ma9er ;)
