795) Dude, Where is my brain !!

Sometimes we don't get enough information or give our decisions enough thought before taking them, and then we just regret without understanding how to get better. Through my dealing with tens of companies every year, I have experienced how bad we need much more educated and self-balanced managers to lead our teams, and companies that will in-turn lead our economy. Let me share with you a story we use in leading change and how it is important for the manager to be educated and listens before he talks.

A company, feeling it was time for a shakeup, hires a new CEO. This new boss is determined to rid the company of all slackers. On a tour of the facilities, the CEO notices a guy leaning on a wall. The room is full of workers and he wants to let them know he means business!
The CEO walks up to the guy and asks, "And how much money do you make a week?"
A little surprised, the young fellow looks at him and replies, "I make $300.00 a week. Why?" The CEO then hands the guy $1,200 in cash and screams, "Here's four weeks' pay, now GET OUT and don't come back!"
Feeling pretty good about his first firing, the CEO looks around the room and asks, "Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-off did here?"
With a sheepish voice, one of the other workers said, "Pizza delivery guy from Domino's."

So if you think that you are mr or miss. know it all, please reconsider before taking the wrong decisions and even embarrassing yourself as well.

By the way, this applies too to our useless government that is far beyond management and leadership specially in the time of change. No Vision, No Info, No Control, and hence, No Expectations, and No Results.

  2. I could add too: have trust in your employees, give them some space to do the job in their own way, before dominating every single move and killing their creativity and thinking way.
be tolerant to other thinking ways other than yours, please.

  3. most of the managers problems in Egypt comes from the "Management by Crisis" Methodology they follow that keeps them always needed and on top but screws everything else.

  4. I don't understand the insecurity most of them experience, when dealing with competent employees. as if a good employee would kick them out and grab their post, ignoring the fact that a good employee is a proof of a good manager as well.
i faced this problem not only with officers of public secotrs, but also in multinationals, where we had "well-educated" young managers. still the same concept msot of the times.

and female managers could be hell. have to admit this fact!!!!

  6. I like the post, you are discussing a very critical Issue, but I don’t have enough words to comment. may be coz I am very tired from facing such wrong decisions every day from many people around me and can’t get justification to their decision.

Egyptian management style became a disease and infection spreading very fast, we have a lack of communication and discussion with our managers. Why managers don’t communicate and discuss before taking the decision with everyone involved and treat those in the position of support with respect and deference

The reality they don’t have enough confidence and they have the fear from losing the rest of their confidence.

Employees are generally treated with respect, in turn; they treat managers with respect and deference attributable to their position

As you mentioned we need not only educated but also self-balanced managers and thousand line under Self Balanced managers
This is the best prescription, but who follows?
