Believe it or not, I actually do like the school sign, for at least the school administration was able to explore and state their value system explicitly and clearly. Now, whether they do put what they value into action or not, that would be a question mark.
To me, the loose net on the top of the school sign, represents breaking free out of old patterns of thought which does not serve us anymore or the liberation of the negative mind bondage. To me that is the true education.
Mona, it is not the school administration stating thier value system. It is a motto written all over Egyptian schools as a part of a governmental plan I think. Because as you might notice from the pic, the school isn't anything like the sign.
As for the net, I am afraid that it might have been put there for another reason like hanging something onto it while an official was visiting the school and after the visit no one cared to put it down. (and jessyz explaination is valid too, who knows!!)
I really wish we all have your positive approach in Egypt :)

So that if the boys try to play truant, the net catches them and keeps them inside the school :-)

Shima,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up.I guess I am an incurable optimist.
It seems like the governement is taking strides in the direction of school system improvement though. The motto idea is a great start.
